![]() ![]() ![]() Both plots were unique in ter ms of some themes- ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ addresses themes such as the h ardship of women and sisterhood and Hosseini does not induce melodramatic elements into these themes, rath er he handles them very well. Other than that, the story revolves around the friendship of two boys and even though these boys live in separate worlds for the most part of the story, they are still connected by a secret and the plot is basicall y about how the protagonist strives for redemption for more than himself. On the other hand, the reader follows the story of two boys in ‘The Kite Runner’ which is also in Afghanistan, but the setting does change for the majority of the plot. In ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ the author writes about two girls who become sisters by fate and the story is about how t hey navigate their lives during the political strife of Afghanistan. In this post, I am going to compar e and contrast the plot, the characters and Hosseini’s writing style for both stories. Both stories are set in Afghanistan and cover the tragic history of the country from the fall of the monarchy to the rise of the Taliban. ![]() Khaled Hosseini has authored both books and has written two of the most beautifully tragic stories that I have ever come across. ![]() Since I have read both ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ and ‘The Kite Runner’, I thought it would be a nice idea to do a compare and contrast blog post on both books. ![]()
